As Long as it’s Above Freezing …

No doubt about it .. winter has arrived in the Chicago area. This of course makes things a bit more challenging when we’re out with the show. There of course is a lot more to our performance then the 45 minutes of show-time. Once we arrive at the venue, we have to unload a van full of equipment .. this is called the “load-in.” The next step is the set-up that usually takes about an hour or so. Sure .. we’ve got props to assemble but, there’s also sound equipment, backdrops and costumes to get ready. The sound is up and running, then we go over the show list to make sure everything is set. Finally it’s show-time … and the fun begins. Just last weekend there were over 700 people at one of our gigs .. that’s a big crowd.

Once the show is over, our work isn’t finished .. not yet. We usually get back into our street clothes and begin tearing down. Everything needs to go in the right cases and then back in the van .. this is simply called the “load-out.” Some days we repeat this process up to three times on a given day. It is a very tough job but, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
