I’ve said many times before, this is my favorite time of year. The days are warm and the nights are nice and cool .. good sleepin’ weather. Just last night I fell fast asleep on the couch .. again. The trees are already starting to show colors and the pumpkins are in season.
I couldn’t wait for Labor Day to pass and see the Halloween Display at Target. I always get a kick out of all the cool new stuff they have for the season. We use to set up quiet a display at my house .. the kids were actually scared to come up to the door, and for good reason. The fall also brings back fond memories of my father. He would usually be the first up and the hum of the lawnmower could be heard outside. Sure enough, he would be in shorts and knee high tube socks, cutting the grass. Soon afterwards the smell of pancakes would fill the house .. he liked making those on his little grill. Later in the afternoon, the Chicago Bears would be on in the family room.
Those days are long gone .. but I can’t help to think of him, especially when there is a chill in the air. Looking at the calendar, I’ve got one more Sunday in September to enjoy.
